Celebrating Women in the Spirits Industry!

To celebrate Women’s History Month, we want to highlight the work of our CMO and Co-Founder of Frontier Spirits, Kaitlyn Skloss. Featured in Forbes magazine's “Women Running the Liquor World,” Kaitlyn demonstrates the tenacity it takes to succeed in a predominately male industry.

Prior to this role, she gained her extensive marketing and communications experience at NPR’s national office in Washington, DC, and at Datawatch Systems in Bethesda, Maryland. Demonstrating her trademark self-sufficiency and commitment to hard work, she also put herself through private college by working three jobs. In her executive role today, she is an active corporate member of Women of the Vine and Spirits, an organization that provides women in the alcohol industry a network of colleagues, mentors, and opportunities to develop and advance their personal brands and careers. She also brings a passion for community service though involvement in World Affairs Council, American Business Women’s Association, Women of Wardrobe - Dress for Success Program, The Bush Literacy Foundation - Ladies for Literacy, and Meals on Wheels - AniMeals.

Kaitlyn’s mission is to show the next generation of businesswomen that enough hard work, dedication, and vision can tear down any barrier, no matter the industry.

Also, joining the team this year with our new Whiskey brand, Luckenbach Road Whiskey, we want to highlight our head distiller Emma Kahn.

She first fell in love with whiskey while studying abroad in Scotland while she was in college, crediting a local tour guide with teaching her “how to drink whiskey properly” in the oldest pub in the Isle of Skye. She says “it’s hard to not devote your life to that after having that as your first experience.”

Right after earning her degree, Kahn moved to Texas where she had been teaching with a non-profit called City Year, and got a job with a distillery in the Dallas-Forth Worth area. She then got a job with another Central Texas distillery and started exploring many different facets of the industry. She quickly realized that her heart was fully in the production process, which ultimately led to an opportunity with Luckenbach Road Whiskey.

Along the way, Kahn became an official Certified Specialist of Spirits, an Executive Bourbon Steward and earned the highly-regarded Level II Whiskey Sommelier Certification.

“If you had asked me 10 years ago what I thought I would be doing at this point in my life, never would I have dreamed that I would be at the heart of a brand-new bourbon distillery in Texas. This industry is full of incredible, creative, ingenious, brilliant, supportive and kind people.”
