Pura Vida Tequila premiered with a Texas-only debut in 2011, finishing the year with impressive numbers that earned its position as the 10th top selling tequila in the state. With this success, we set our sights on the West coast with a 2012 California red carpet roll-out. After only six months of aggressive growth in California, Pura Vida expanded into Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, Nevada and New Mexico, increasing its U.S. tequila stronghold to seven states and 43% of the available consumer tequila market. Pura Vida Tequila was pronounced “the best damn tequila you’ve ever tasted” by legendary ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons, who became a top investor in Pura Vida Tequila amongst an exclusive group of doctors, lawyers and energy executives.

Since its launch in 2011, Pura Vida has captured numerous spirit competition awards and the loyalty of connoisseurs as an ultra-premium, triple-distilled tequila made exclusively from 100% Blue Weber agave harvested from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. Stewart and the Pura Vida team all concur, "We knew our line of true 100% Blue Weber Agave tequilas would instantly be recognized not only for its unique packaging, but more importantly, for what's inside."

10 years later, Pura Vida Tequila now stands poised to become a leader in the liquor industry as it starts the newest chapter in the company’s history with nation-wide distribution and a growing team of talented individuals. We are hopeful for the progress that will take place in 2021 as a brand, and for the liquor industry as a whole. Although the pandemic has forced us and other liquor companies to rethink our strategies, it has allowed time for innovation and we are now on the brink of many exciting new ventures.
